PM Fee Reimbursement Scheme has been introduced for five years. Higher Education Commission (HEC) has created an online portal for students to apply. The scheme will provide financial support to students in public universities and colleges. Funding will continue until the student completes their academic program.

New students from less developed regions are encouraged to apply for this program. The application steps are explained on this page. Meritorious students will pay their tuition fees directly to the universities at the time of admission. Around 108,035 eligible students from underdeveloped areas will benefit from this scheme.
Prime Minister’s Fee Payment Scheme for Less Developed Areas (Selected Areas)
The Prime Minister’s Fee Payment Scheme for Less Developed Areas (Designated Areas) is currently not accepting new registrations. The scheme was initially introduced for five years from the financial year 2012-13. It said that students who joined the 2016-17 financial scheme last year, will continue to receive funding until they complete their academic programme.

Apply Online PM Fee Reimbursement Scheme Scheme
Eligibility Criteria:
Under the PM Fee Payment Scheme , students from less developed areas like Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA etc. are eligible. Enrollment requirements differ for current students, PhD candidates, and new entrants.
- Domicile: Applicants should be from specified areas like Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA etc.
- Registration:
- Existing Students: Must be enrolled in Master’s, MS/M. Phil programs based on merit in residential areas or FATA, Malakand, Kohistan, and D.I. Khan are studying in the universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- PhD Candidates: Residents of specified areas and enrolled in any public sector university in Pakistan.
- New Admissions: Merit-based admission for PhD programs in universities located in respective regions or any public sector university in Pakistan.
Institutions covered:
Students of public sector universities, affiliated government colleges, and public sector degree awarding institutes (DAIs) are eligible for the scheme.
Disability:
Certain categories are ineligible, including recipients of scholarships from other organizations, self-funded students, and part-time students.
Application Process:
Automatic consideration:
Students do not need to apply; Universities identify eligible students and submit them directly to HEC.
Payment Process:
HEC pays tuition fees including academic, incidental, and compulsory fees directly to universities.
Subsequent payments:
Continued support is dependent on academic progress and meeting the university’s CGPA/percentage requirements. Full-time enrollment with a standard course load is mandatory.

Financial coverage:
